Ra
Ra is not only the king of the gods , but also the patron of the pharoah. He is known as the creator of everything.Ra is almost always portrayed with a solar disc above his head, the head of a falcon, and the body of a man.Ra is diffrent from other Egytian gods becuase he is purely a celestial (relating to the heavens or sky) god.Due to this, Horus serves as Ra's proxy.
To the Egyptians he was the bringer of light and the creator of the heavens. He was the sun god.For the ancient Egyptians, the sun was a source of life, power and energy, light and warmth. This is the main reson he was one of the must worshiped gods. This is also the main reason as to why his cult had a huge amount of power and was widespread. Around the fourth dynasty, the Egyptians began to see the pharaohs as incarnations of Ra.This gave the pharoah absolute power.
He was said to command the chariot that rode across the sky during the day ,swallowed every night by the sky goddess Nut, and then was reborn every morning. The ancient Egyptians also believed that he travelled through the underworld at night and that during this time he appeared as a man with the head of a ram. Although there are not many people who still worship him, there are some Egyptian reconstructionists (these people follow the traditions of modern Paganism that follow the structure of the ancient Egyptian religion) who still honor Ra as the supreme god of the sun.
